Things to do around Derby Part 1
/The trails are why we come to Derby but there are also a lot of other activities on offer if you enjoy the outdoors! Just a few of these are:
• Derby Lake (Brisies Hole) - originally formed from Tin Mining, the lake is now a beautiful spot for an afternoon beer, a swim or just walk around it. This is a dual purpose track, so be vigilant. Just cross the bridge by the pump track.
• Derby Tunnel - an original mining tunnel which can be ridden or walked, they have solar lights but watch out for bikes! Sometimes you can see glow worms in here too.
• Little Blue Lake - a beautiful lake with mineral rich water, located just out of Pioneer heading towards Gladstone.
• Pyengana Dairy - located in Pyengana, they make and sell cheese, yoghurt, relishes etc and also offer many lunch options.
• St Columba Falls - located just out of Pyengana, a great stop after the cheese factory. A short walk to a beautiful waterfall
• Ralph Falls - just outside of Ringarooma, there are two waterfalls here with a beautiful nature walk
• Blue Tier Forest Reserve - where the Blue Tier descent is located but there are also many beautiful walks within this area.
